Invited guest Ms. Giovanna Carriero-Contreras will present a lecture “Breaking Barriers: Language Access as a Key to Health Equity”

Ms. Carreiro-Contreras is a nationally known language interpreter, language access advocate and key contributor to national standards for interpreting practice and professional ethics in community interpreting. Her presentation addresses the role of language access in health disparities/equity and the role of medical interpreters in cross-linguistic, intercultural communication contexts to support better health outcomes.
